Since Windows was first launched, there have always been two renowned applications that have always, or almost always, accompanied it: Minesweeper and Paint. The first hasn't got much to evolve and is almost the same 20 years later, but the second one was the first introduction to painting with a computer that the majority of users ever had. Nevertheless, so long has passed since it was first launched, that it is badly in the need of a renovation. MyPaint is an application that has the simplicity of Paint, but with interesting updates in order to make drawing with it very intuitive and fun.
MyPaint is a fast and easy in use program for 'digital painters'. The authors focus mainly on creating an application for painting that is working with popular tablets. The application has: simple and minimalistic interface (most of the actions are performed by using keyboard shortcuts) supporting layers. It's great for taking notes, annotating designs, and plain doodling. I happen to mainly use it on my Ubuntu Linux laptop with the mypaint-testing ppa. Sometimes I'm on a Mac.

MediBang Paint Pro has an occasionally quirky interface and it sometimes takes a while to find what you need, but there's plenty to like here, and the ability to work almost anywhere is a real plus.
